Summary: Seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop engineering design data in compliance with FAA, customer, and industry standards for aircraft seating solutions.

Job Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and coursework.

  • Two (2) years industry experience in engineering, preferably with passenger aircraft seating design.

  • Two (2) years of experience using Solidworks or comparable CAD program.

  • Knowledge of FAA regulations, certification processes and related requirements.

  • Familiarity with standard aircraft components, materials, fabrication practices, aviation hardware and their application in design.

  • Understanding of engineering principles for stress analysis, finite element modeling (FEM), 3D-computer modeling, and analytical substantiation techniques.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and the use of personal computer systems.

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English language.

Preferred Skills:

  • Five (5) years industry experience in relevant engineering field.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for various seating programs.

  • Conduct feasibility studies for ZACS proposals and work from limited specification information.

  • Generate design data for manufacturing, assembly and installation of aircraft seating assemblies/components.

  • Perform fastener selections, tolerance studies along with weight and cost assessments.

  • Develop preliminary engineering analysis to substantiate aircraft modifications.

  • Mentor less experienced Design Engineers and review their design data output.

  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure customer requirements are met.

  • Work alongside Substantiation Engineering group and ODA representatives ensuring designs meet FAA criteria.

  • Attend/support design review meetings with staff members.

  • Offer technical support during manufacturing/assembly phases as well as during seat installation by airframe/customer.

  • Gain expertise in aircraft seat design concepts plus industry design/test standards.

  • Support other Engineering groups based on workload demands.

  • Adhere to internal policies/procedures while providing suggestions for improvement.

  • Represent the company professionally when dealing with customers, manufacturers, vendors or outside agencies.

 



Pay Details: $40.00 to $60.00 per hour
