Controls Engineer

Summary: Seeking a Controls Engineer with expertise in Siemens PLCs for a 6-month contract involving design, development, and commissioning of automation equipment.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in mechatronics, controls, electrical or equivalent

• 5+ years of controls engineering experience

• In-depth knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric code, UL508A)

• In-depth knowledge of Safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA)

• Advanced proficiency in programming industrial equipment: Safety PLCs (Allen Bradley & Siemens), HMI/GUI (Allen Bradley, Siemens & Ignition), Field bus Networks (Ethernet IP, ProfiNet), Ethernet communications

Preferred Skills:

• Demonstrated excellence in programming PLCs

• Well-defined methodology for maintaining code structure and organization

• Ability to program state machines for complex processes involving multi-station parallel processing, pick and place automation, data acquisition, and PID control

• Proven ability to design fault-tolerant systems with error handling and recovery

Job Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the design and development of new automation equipment and assembly lines

• Create robust system architecture to support concepts

• Program all controls components such as PLCs, safety devices, HMI, servo drives from power-on to debug and validation

• Work with cross-functional teams throughout product life cycle

• Lead a small team of controls engineers and collaborate with Product Design Engineering, Quality, Production and Maintenance teams

• Participate in initial equipment conceptual development balancing specifications, process control requirements, layout complexity, cost, quality and lead-time limits

• Architect, write and debug PLC ladder logic ensuring organized and maintainable code interaction with subsystems like conveyors, robots, MES systems

Pay Details: $33.00 to $50.00 per hour
