Animal Care Attendant II
Summary: Seeking an Animal Care Attendant II to support research animal health maintenance and perform various veterinary tasks under the direction of a veterinarian.
Job Requirements:
AA Degree or equivalent work experience in related discipline
1-2 years of related experience
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) preferred
Experience with animals in pre-clinical settings, especially pigs, dogs, and sheep
Experience with GDP documentation and GLP studies
Job Responsibilities:
Follow safety and security policies, maintaining compliance with regulations and SOPs
Ensure adherence to study protocols and data collection procedures
Provide preventative care including weights, vaccinations, sample collections, administering medications, and physical exams
Support post-operative procedures including recoveries, pain scoring, medication administration, and monitoring vitals
Document clearly in electronic medical records and communicate effectively with veterinarians
Process clinical pathology samples in-house and coordinate with external labs as needed
Ensure animals receive adequate enrichment and social housing
Maintain lab areas by assisting with animal care and communicating health status issues
Accurately maintain records for compliance with regulations
Coordinate inventory management for supplies and equipment
Induce/maintain anesthesia and monitor physiological status during studies
Keep updated on veterinary techniques through training and literature review
Monitor animal health throughout studies in consultation with veterinarians
Perform pre-purchase examinations of animals
Assist/conduct necropsies as directed
Pay Details: $25.00 to $33.00 per hour
