Seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to support field engineering activities and resolve construction-related problems for ongoing projects.

Job Requirements

  • US citizenship required.
  • Ability to complete a security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements.
  • Eligibility to obtain a site security badge.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check (verification of employment and education).
  • BS in Structural/Civil Engineering and 9 years of related experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to independently execute detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures.
  • Thorough knowledge and application of AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, and ASCE 7.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or SAP 2000.
  • Experience with CADD applications like MicroStation or Tekla.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and material requisitions.
  • Understanding of construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
  • Familiarity with work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.

Preferred Skills

  • Relevant experience on the UPF Project or similar DOE projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support field engineering activities for ongoing construction work.
  • Resolve construction problems via meetings, correspondence, field changes, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and Construction Deficiency Reports (CDRs) related to CSA discipline.
  • Originate or check engineering dispositions based on reviews of deliverables, including steel and concrete calculations, Finite Element Analysis, and specifications.
  • Review and coordinate technical documents across engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.
  • Schedule and monitor work activities and manage specifically assigned project tasks.
  • Assist in constructability reviews.
  • Mentor or coach subordinate engineers.


Pay Details: $56.00 to $75.00 per hour
